Jobdisabili.it wins the Global Social Venture Competition Italy 2012

On Friday January 27, after an intense week of training, nine start-up selected among over 50 applicants pitched their company at the 2012 edition of Intesa Sanpaolo Start-Up Initiative/ Global Social Venture Competition (organized in collaboration with ALTIS Cattolica, Associazione San Michele Valore Impresa, Associazione Prospera, Banca Prossima). Over a hundred participants among investors, corporations and institutions gathered to listen to those companies presenting a business with social and environmental impact.

A round table on "Social Ventures: a concrete step towards sustainable entrepreneurship", moderated by the journalist Emil Abirascid, kicked off the event. Among the speakers, Marco Ratti, Banca Prossima; Frank Cinque, ALTIS Cattolica; Sergio Barbonetti, Associazione San Michele Valore Impresa; Adriano Azzaretti, Associazione Prospera and Cristina Piai, Intesa Sanpaolo Eurodesk.

A jury representing investors, foundations and institutions selected three projects for the Global Social Venture Competition Italian Awards. The third position was assigned to Nucafe, a team from Uganda who put in place a system of equitable sharing of treasures of coffee among value chain participants and society; the second place went to Mapability, a portal dedicated to urban accessibility that gives information regarding accessibility at street level.The winner of the competition is Jobdisabili.it (Agenzia Lavoro Disabili), a unique and free-of-charge web platform that helps disabled candidates entering the working world. The winners were awarded scholarships for the Master in PMI e Competivitità (Master in SMEs and Competitiveness) offered from ALTIS Cattolica.

A special award for "Best healthcare start-up" was assigned by Fondazione Filarete to the Polibone team, who is developing an innovative injectable bone cement for the treatment of osteoporotic disease.
